Fellow Visual Thinkers – Part 1

by Pictualize on January 27, 2009

Pictualize is not alone in the journey of thinking and explaining concepts/technologies/services visually. There are industry mavens out there who have done and are doing a fabulous job of giving the world a clutter free explanation.

We are doing a series of such visual thinkers and the awesome work they are doing.

The first mention comes of the LeFevers. The husband and wife duo who have been doing groundbreaking work in visual explanations since 2003. The duo shot to fame from the “RSS in plain English” video and never looked back. In their recent posts, they admitted that as technologies behind products and services increase in complexity, there follows a need for explanations which cut through the redundancies and clutter in our understanding.

Currently, they do explanatory videos for training and explanations. The entire video library can be accessed from their Common Craft Store. Below is one of the videos they’ve done to explain “Borrowing money in plain English” .

I Support Proto.in '09

Proto.in is for Indian start-ups what a Godfather can be for any fledgling start-let. I know the comparison might not be so great, but it does not belittle the contribution of an event like Proto in any sense. For quite many years, the Indian start-up industry was limited to NRI Indians working in the silicon valley, coming up with a technology product. Globalization spread it’s roots and the world became flat. Very soon, young minds, curious, inquisitive and hungry, started to rummage through the voids and gaps in services/products and technologies.

And did they find anything? You bet!!
India has it’s own ecosystem of start-ups, and the founders come from as diverse backgrounds of humanities mixed with economics, designers with consultants and what not. The result?
An oasis nourished by the most fertile minds, the most dedicated souls and the most sweat put into fulfilling the dreams and make them into reality.

But every garden needs a gardener, to select the best saplings, to give the best fertilizer and to tend then all the way till they become a full blossoming plant. Proto.in is the gardener.

Pictualize, admires and salutes the role of such an event in the larger picture of life and economy. We are proud Associate Partners of Proto ‘09.

To celebrate the Start-up spirit, we have created an exclusive hand-crafted blog widget. It depicts the mechanics of the start-ups, the chemistry between the team and the idea bulb is shown in collaboration with the digital media they operate in. And a banner which reads “I SUPPORT PROTO ‘09″

If you are a blogger, a company or a start-up enthusiast, you can use this hand drawn widget to show your support. :) Get your very own here.
